Film & Video Tape
Super 8 and 16 mm movie film were the media of choice for low budget art films and music videos during the cheese years. Videotape is cheap and available but it lacks the softness of film. We were fortunate to have friends studying film at Western KY University and they worked us into school projects. I also carried a super 8 film camera on the road and shot film when I could afford it. I'm currently going through boxes of movie film, videotape, and audio tapes for a cheese documentary. Here's a sampling of music videos shot on film and some live stuff shot on videotape.
Search and Destroy (Iggy Pop Cover) - Late 80s club and NYC street footage shot in Super 8 film produced by Billy Mack.
Camping on Acid Video - shot in super 8 film featuring "Skot the Pinhead" The video was shot in 1987 to support Government Cheese recording "Three Chords No Waiting" produced by Billy Mack.
Jailbait - Government Cheese videotape shot in January 1992 at Mainstreet in Murfreesburo, TN.
Single - Government Cheese videotape shot in 1990 at Metro Awards Show Nashville, TN.
